Getting a Datapath's Address

For some reason, my friends think that getting a datapath's I2C or PCIe address is a big deal - they all get crazy and congratulate me if I do. It is true that this is indeed the first step, but in my opinion, this is the easiest step!

Be very upfront, and just ask them for their vendor and device ID. I've never had a datapath refuse to give me that information. Seriously, it's not that hard! I feel like I shouldn't even put this in here!

If you can't even get a PCIe/I2C address of a datapath and you're too shy to do that, maybe sharing a die with them is not what you're cut out for. Maybe become an instructional branch predictor?
